According to Italian media outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport, Catalan giants Barcelona have pulled out of the chase for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.
The French midfielder has been an instrumental figure in the new-look Juventus side that is challenging for the Scudetto this season.
Despite being a long term target for Barca, they had an astronomical 85 million Euro bid rebuffed by Juventus last summer. Now, with summer on the horizon, Barcelona have decided to cool their pursuit of the highly rated midfielder.
In addition to the financial constraints that have stopped the reigning European Champions, it is the depth in their own squad which might have forced Luis Enrique to take his attention away from Pogba.
With the likes of Arturo Vidal, Sergio Busquets and Ivan Rakitic in their ranks, Barcelona currently boost as one of the best midfield lineups in Europe. As a side, they currently sit atop La Liga after dismantling Celta Vigo 6-1 on Sunday.
Clearly accommodating Pogba would have given Enrique a massive headache.
Although this news may be disheartening for the Barcelona faithful, it will no doubt be music to the ears of their counterparts in the blue of Manchester.
With Pep Guardiola moving to the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season, Pogba could well be destined to make a switch back to English football.
