In a strange outburst, former Real Madrid manager Rafael Benitez has slammed the club’s president over his impatience with the first team managers.
The former Liverpool manager was sacked less that 5 months after taking charge at the Santiago Bernabeu this season.
Venting his aggression at his former boss, Rafael Benitez slammed the approach with which Florentino Perez is running the club.
When Rafa was appointed as Real Madrid boss after the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti, many people close to the Real Madrid board predicted that his reign wouldn’t last for long.
After all, Rafael Benitez is known for taking 2-3 seasons to shape his teams, whereas at Real Madrid, any season without a trophy is deemed as a catastrophe.
And Perez showed his ruthless side once again as the Real Madrid Chairman handed Rafa his termination letter.
“You can see Camacho, Del Bosque, Pellegrini, Mourinho, Ancelotti – it’s not easy to be the manager there,” Benitez commented.
And he added: “You have to do everything perfect. As soon as something is wrong, or the chairman thinks something is wrong, you have problems.
“Obviously you should expect to improve at the end of the season because the experience we have is to manage two games a week and train for five. I think we could do really well but they were a little bit nervous, the fans were, the chairman was, and they changed the manager.”
We await with baited breath where Rafa will turn up next.
