euro 2106 and premier league logosAfter the end of the first round of fixtures, Euro 2016 has seen a number of brilliant performances from certain players.

While some of these players scored match winners for their sides, others defended the goal bravely for their teams.

While the goalscoring earns more headlines, it would be cruel to neglect the contribution the defenders and midfielders have made so far.

Here are 3 Premier League players who have performed brilliantly so far in Euro 2016:

Dimitri Payet ñ France
Before the start of last season, there were few fans who knew the name of the 29-year-old Frenchman. However, courtesy of his star performances with West Ham United last season ñ that perched the London club above a formidable Liverpool side in the league, Payet has started to get his fair share of the fame. Despite all that, there were still some skeptics who questioned the ability of Payet at international level.

However, after his wonder goal in the first match of Euro 2016 ñ which was also a match winner for France, Payet has once again proved his doubters wrong. In addition to scoring a goal, Payet also created one for his teammates in the first half.

Therefore, after having such a prolific start to Euro 2016, Payet was our pick as the best Premier League player in the opening week of the competition.

Graziano Pelle ñ Italy
Another player who deserves credit after his performance in the first round of fixtures is Southampton and Italy striker Graziano Pelle.

He scored one goal for Italy against Belgium and was undoubtedly their man of the match.

Before the game, after Antonio Conte decided to include the 31-year-old in his starting XI, many Italy fans feared that this move could backfire against a brilliant Belgium side. However, Pelle answered his critics in grand fashion after scoring the 2nd goal of the game to seal 3 points for Italy.

Eric Dier ñ England
At just 22 years of age, Dier almost handed England their first ever opening day win in the European Championships against Russia.

In addition to his goal, it was the overall performance of the Tottenham midfielder that lifted his name amongst the English faithful.
