Premier League Predictions: Derby Weekend in the EPL is Here

The Premier League, regarded as the best league in the world for entertainment, this weekend hosts some of the most anticipated fixtures in it’s calendar. Not only that, they fall on the same day, Sunday!

So prepare your weekend in advance, clear your diary, prepare your VonBets bonus code 2018 and settle down to watch a few hours of pure drama. Two derbies plus an additional mouthwatering fixture complete this Sunday’s lineup:

Southampton v Arsenal
Liverpool v Everton
Man Utd v Man City

Predictions

Southampton v Arsenal
Already in 2017, Arsenal have beaten Southampton twice and to add another layer of difficulty, Mauricio Pellegrino has had just one win in the last six games. Hardly form that will get the blood of any Saints fans flowing at the hope of a home win.

Yet the fans will flock to St Mary’s expectant of a win and to see an Arsenal side that is inconsistent at best. The Gunners sit in 6th going into the fixture and looked destined to be forced off the top table for the foreseeable future. They just can’t seem to muster the strength to beat the teams above them despite having a good side on paper.

Arsenal can however look forward to having some of their top players on form. With the January transfer window around the corner, the likes of Alexis Sanchez will be manoeuvring themselves into the shop window ahead of potential moves – meaning that they’ll be keen to put on a show for any of those major clubs ‘window shopping’.

Prediction: Southampton 1-3 Arsenal

Liverpool v Everton

The arrival of Sam Allardyce has certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons on Merseyside, and just in time too. A few weeks ago you would have predicted this result to go only one way, to the Reds, but Everton’s upturn in form and confidence has put that into question.

But let’s not overlook a currently rampant Liverpool. Last week against Brighton in the league and midweek against Spartak Moscow in the Champions League, the Reds were purring. Big Sam will come to stop Klopp’s side playing but at times they are simply irresistible and quite literally unstoppable.

It will certainly be an interesting tactical battle, yet Klopp knows what he’s in for – he’s faced Allardyce three times already in the league at different clubs. But this has the added bite of the Merseyside derby. You won’t want to miss this one.

Prediction: Liverpool 1-1 Everton

Man Utd v Man City

And then there was the Manchester derby to finish off a spectacular weekend. What more can be said about Guardiola’s irresistible City. They are playing like champions, abundant in goals and at times a pure joy to watch.

Yet they’ve added more to their game too. They’ve found ways to win the difficult games, ways that they couldn’t find last season and they were found wanting. Guardiola went away, licked his wounds and came back a different beast – far more prepared for life in the unforgiving Premier League.

Man Utd on the other hand remain a bit of a mystery. At times brilliant, at others despairingly frustrating. Yet they remain in the title hunt and can’t be ruled out of any game – especially one as big as this. Jose is likely to shut up shop, he’ll be prepared to come and take a point despite holding home advantage.

And this is where the game will be devilishly entertaining (pardon the pun). Guardiola’s attacking flair with Mourinho attempting to nullify it. I’m betting on a City win.

Prediction: Man Utd 1-3 Man City
